A .38 (S&W) DOUBLE-ACTION SELF-EJECTING REVOLVER, MODEL 'POCKET', serial no. 30294,
circa 1887, with round 3 1/2in. barrel (light frosting to bore), the top marked 'MERWIN HULBERT & CO. NEW YORK USA' together with patent dates to January 1883, crescent fore-sight, side mounted take-down catch, later style closed frame with barrel release button to the underside, the left side of frame marked '.38 CAL', fluted cylinder, colour hardened hammer with folding spur and colour hardened trigger-guard, smooth walnut grips, lanyard ring at heel, the whole retaining much original nickel plated finish
